Introduction

Standard Development Background and Technology Evolution

With the popularization of mobile Internet and NFC technology, the scale of mobile payment transactions in my country exceeded 100 billion yuan in 2012. However, the industry faces problems such as poor compatibility of POS terminals and inconsistent standards for SE security units. As the first mobile payment terminology system in the financial industry, this standard fills the domestic gap and lays the foundation for the subsequent formulation of the JR/T 0088 series of standards.

Analysis of the core terminology system

Classification Number of terms Typical terms Technical relevance
Payment method 6 Near field payment/remote payment/SMS payment NFC and mobile network
Hardware equipment 9 Mobile terminal/split terminal/smart SD card SE carrier form
Security mechanism 13 Dynamic password/two-factor authentication/anti-collision mechanism Financial-grade security

Comparison of key technology definitions

1. Near-field payment vs. remote payment

Near-field payment (Article 2.5) requires the physical proximity (usually ≤10cm) between the mobile terminal and the acceptance terminal, and completes the transaction through NFC or radio frequency technology. The typical scenario is supermarket POS payment.
Remote payment (Article 2.6) relies on the mobile network to connect to the backend system, including QR code payment, APP payment and other modes.

2. Security Unit Architecture

The standard clearly defines the three-layer architecture of the SE security unit (Article 2.11):
- Primary Security Domain (ISD) (Article 2.48): the core security area controlled by the SE issuer
- Secondary Security Domain (SSD) (Article 2.49): the independent security space of the application provider
- Security Carrier (Article 2.57): the physical carrier medium of the SE (such as SIM card, eSE chip)

Implementation Recommendations

  1. System Development: The design of the payment system must strictly follow the four major system architectures defined in Articles 2.14-2.17 (remote payment/acquiring/account management/transfer and clearing)
  2. Security certification: SE products should meet the requirements of COS operating system in Article 2.18 and KMS key management in Article 2.19
  3. Interoperability: Institution code (Article 2.53) and PAID payment application identifier (Article 2.51) are key identifiers for cross-institution transactions

Direction of standard evolution

With the development of biometrics and tokenization technology, it is recommended to add the following to subsequent versions:
- Face/fingerprint payment terminology
- Payment tokenization definition
- IoT payment scenario expansion
