Standard Overview and Technical Background

LS/T 3124-2019 was proposed by the National Technical Committee for Standardization of Cereals and Oils (SAC/TC 270), which stipulates the quality requirements, inspection methods, packaging, storage and transportation specifications of Suaea salsa seeds. This standard replaces the original agricultural industry standard. The main technical changes include:

  • Added the grading indicator of oil content (≥12.0% is excellent)
  • Refined the detection method of foreign impurities
  • Updated the moisture determination to cite the latest version of GB 5009.3

4.2.1 Determination of oil content

Use Soxhlet extraction method (GB/T 14488.1), please note:

  1. The sample crushing particle size should pass through the 1mm sieve
  2. The ether extraction time is not less than 8 hours
  3. Parallel determination tolerance ≤ 0.5%

4.2.2 Impurity Analysis

When implementing according to GB/T 5494, it is necessary to distinguish:

  • Inorganic impurities (sand, soil)
  • Organic impurities (other plant seeds)
  • Sieves with specified apertures should be used for processing undersize

Implementation and application suggestions

Main points for packaging, storage and transportation

According to the requirements of Chapter 9 of the standard:

  1. The packaging materials shall comply with the provisions of GB/T 8946. It is recommended to use double-layer moisture-proof woven bags
  2. The relative humidity of the storage warehouse shall be controlled below 65%
  3. The transportation vehicles shall be equipped with rain and moisture-proof facilities
