Scope

This standard specifies a method for the determination of smoke density from combustion or thermal decomposition of solid aviation materials or components (including insulated wires). This standard is suitable for measuring and describing the thermal and fire responses of aerospace materials under controlled conditions. It is not suitable for describing or evaluating the hazards or hazards of materials, products, structures or components under actual fire conditions.
