Introduction

Standard Framework and Technology Evolution

MH/T 9010.4-2018, as the fourth part of the LTE Ground-to-Air Communication System series of standards, marks the maturity of my country's civil aviation technology in the field of broadband ground-to-air communication. This standard inherits the 3GPP LTE technical framework and puts forward special requirements for the harsh aviation environment. Its technical evolution path can be traced back to the upgrade requirements of the traditional VHF data link.

Analysis of core installation requirements

Dimensions Traditional data link ATG system
Structural loads Only consider physical installation Need to pass dynamic load analysis
Electromagnetic compatibility Class B requirements DO-160GClass F enhanced standards
Power supply design Main bus power supply Prohibit critical bus power supply + emergency power off design

Key acceptance process

Typical implementation case: In a certain type of business jet modification project, three-stage verification is required:

  1. Installation compliance check: Focus on checking whether the EWIS harness spacing meets the requirements of AC 25.1701
  2. Ground EMC test: Verify the minimum 20dB isolation with the TCAS system
  3. Flight test verification: Complete the switching success rate ≥ 99.7% test at FL300

Continuing airworthiness management

Chapter 7 of the standard innovatively introduces the fault prediction and health management (PHM) requirements:

  • Maintenance intervals must be dynamically adjusted based on MTBUR (mean unplanned replacement interval) data
  • LRU-level fault code mapping tables must be provided
  • Software maintenance must comply with DO-178C tool qualification requirements

Implementation recommendations

For the accessibility requirements of standard 5.4.2, it is recommended to adopt:

 1. The layout of the equipment compartment follows the 30cm reach principle2. The quick release device must meet the requirement of 10 seconds to complete disassembly3. The maintenance port configuration complies with the ARINC404A standard
