Introduction

Standard Background and Scope of Application

This standard was proposed by the Ministry of Civil Affairs and is under the jurisdiction of the National Technical Committee for Funeral Standardization. It is a technical specification for microbial testing formulated for the special environment of funeral venues. It is applicable to the monitoring of pathogenic bacteria in fixed and mobile funeral service venues such as funeral homes, crematoria, and columbariums.

Comparison of core detection indicators and methods

Test items Sampling method Culture medium Culture conditions Judgment criteria
Total bacteria count Impact method/natural sedimentation method Nutrient agar 36±1℃ 48h Maximum value of cfu/m³
Hemolytic Streptococcus Impact method Blood agar plate 36±1℃ 24-48h β-hemolytic ring + Gram staining
Escherichia coli Cotton swab method Lactose bile salt medium 36±1℃ 24h Acid and gas production + microscopy

Analysis of key technical points

1. Total bacterial count detection

Use a six-stage sieve impact sampler (flow rate 28.3L/min) or natural sedimentation method:

  • Sampling point layout: 3 points for ≤30m², 5 points for >30m², 1m away from the wall
  • Calculation formula: Q=N/(L×T)×1000 (Q:cfu/m³)

2. Identification of hemolytic streptococci

Typical case: Colony characteristics found in the rest area of a funeral home:

  • Gray-white translucent colonies (0.5-0.7mm)
  • Gram-positive chain arrangement
  • 2-4mm complete hemolysis ring

Recommendations for the implementation of the standard

  1. Equipment such as the autoclave must be calibrated before sampling
  2. The pH value of the culture medium must be strictly controlled in the range of 7.2-7.6
  3. Fresh defibrinated sheep blood must be used for the hemolysis test
  4. It is recommended to conduct a comprehensive test once a quarter

Technology evolution analysis

Compared with GB19053-2003, this standard has the following major improvements:

  • New requirements for testing mobile places such as funerals
  • Refine the height specification of sampling points (1.2-1.5m)
  • Introduce Baird-Parker medium for identification of Staphylococcus aureus
