Introduction
Analysis of the core content of the standard
| Endangered level | Inbreeding coefficient (Fi) | Population characteristics |
|---|---|---|
| Extinction | Fi≥0.1 | The population size is extremely low and inbreeding is serious |
| On the verge of extinction | 0.05≤Fi<0.1 | The effective population content is lower than the species critical value |
| Serious danger | 0.01≤Fi<0.05 | The population size continues to decline |
Key technical indicators
Inbreeding coefficient calculation formula: Fi=1-e-t/2Ne, where:
- t=number of generations within 100 years (2.5 years for pigs/5 years for cattle, etc.)
- Ne=effective population content
Application case: Mongolian horse protection
According to the standard calculation, the existing effective population content of Mongolian horses Ne=142. Compared with the standards for equine animals in Table 1, it belongs to the dangerous level (range 44-67), and a seed conservation plan needs to be initiated.
Implementation recommendations
- Give priority to the family equal seed retention method (Formula 3), which can increase the effective population content by 30%
- When establishing a core conservation population, the male-female ratio is recommended to be 1:5-1:10
- Reassess the endangered level every 5 years and dynamically adjust the protection strategy
Standard Evolution Analysis
This standard incorporates generation interval differences into the evaluation system for the first time. For example, the generation interval of camels is 8 years, which is significantly longer than that of pigs at 2.5 years, reflecting the differences in biological characteristics of species. Compared with the 2008 version of the standard, the new family equal seed retention calculation method is more in line with the needs of modern conservation practices.
