Introduction
Standard Framework and Technical Evolution
NY/T 2997-2016 is the core standard for grassland resource management in my country. It inherits and develops the GB/T 1.1-2009 standardization work guidelines and is managed by the National Technical Committee for Animal Husbandry Standardization (SAC/TC 274). For the first time, the standard uses the humidity index as a core classification indicator, realizing the quantitative association between climate factors and vegetation characteristics.
Analysis of grassland classification system
| Classification level | Division basis | Typical example |
|---|---|---|
| First level: Class | Climate zone + vegetation type group | Temperature grassland class (A), alpine meadow class (I) |
| Second level: Type | Dominant species combination | A01 (Stipa grandis type), B05 (Stipa purpurogenum type) |
Key technical indicators
Humidity threshold: 0.13 is used as the boundary between desert and grassland (e.g., the humidity requirement for temperate desert is ≤0.13)
Definition of dominant species: Plants with similar feeding value can be merged (e.g., the Leymus chinensis type includes the combination of Leymus chinensis and Stipa baikalense)
Implementation suggestions
- GPS coordinates and community photos should be recorded simultaneously during field surveys>
- The classification of artificial grassland should indicate the improvement method (e.g., reseeding/returning farmland to grassland)
- The mountain meadow class needs to be marked with the altitude gradient (the H class in the standard requires >500mm precipitation)
