Introduction

Analysis of the technical framework of the standard

This standard innovatively constructs a three-dimensional evaluation system based on the duration of 0~50cm soil relative humidity:

Technical dimension QX/T583-2020 QX/T107-2009 (winter wheat) GB/T32752-2016
Monitoring depth 0-50cm layered monitoring 0-20cm surface monitoring 0-100cm entire soil layer
Threshold standard ≥90% field holding capacity ≥85% field holding capacity Continuous precipitation days
Growth stage division Three-stage dynamic indicators Two-stage fixed indicators Uniform for the entire growth period

Core Terminology

Waterlogging process: specifically refers to the number of consecutive days when the relative soil moisture is ≥90%. Please note:

  • The process across growth periods is determined according to the standards of the previous stage
  • Calibration and verification are required when using Automatic soil moisture station for monitoring

Application Case: Heavy Rainfall in Henan in 2021

Monitoring data in the tasseling period in Zhengzhou showed that: soil moisture at 0-50cm continued to be ≥90% for 18 days. According to the standard:

  1. A single process was judged as moderate waterlogging (15≤dRsM0-50<25)
  2. Combined with a mild process in the previous jointing period, it was finally assessed as severe waterlogging level

Technical details of grade classification

Differences in sensitivity of three key growth stages:

Growth stage Critical value of waterlogging tolerance Yield loss rate
Seedling-jointing 15 days 18-25%
Jointing-tasting 10 days 30-45%
tasting-maturity 7 days 50-70%

Recommendations for the implementation of the standard

1. Monitoring technical specifications

  • It is recommended to use a frequency domain reflectometry soil moisture meter and observe at a fixed point at 10 a.m. every day
  • The data needs to be calibrated in the field water holding capacity laboratory

2. Disaster assessment process

  1. Confirm the current growth period (BBCH standard)
  2. Calculate the number of days that the standard has been exceeded
  3. Confirm the single process level by comparing it with Table 1
  4. Determine the final level by combining it with Table 2

3. Grading response of defense measures

Waterlogging level Agronomic measures Engineering measures
Mild Cultivate and spread the soil moisture + foliar fertilizer Unblock the furrows
Moderate Apply quick-acting nitrogen fertilizer Forced drainage by water pump
Severe Change to crops with short growth period Dig drainage pipes
