Scope

This document specifies the overall requirements and classification of lightning protection for automatic weather station rooms, lightning protection for observation sites and workrooms, ground grids, selection and use of surge protectors (SPDs), and detection and maintenance of lightning protection devices. This document applies to lightning protection for newly built, rebuilt, and expanded automatic weather station rooms. This document does not apply to lightning protection for buoy-type automatic weather stations.
