Standard Revision Background and Technology Evolution
SC/T 7002.10-2018, as a replacement for the 1992 version of the standard, mainly strengthens three aspects: Protection Level Identification System adds additional/supplementary letters (5.3-5.4), Test Methods add pretreatment and empty shell detection (6.1-6.2), Waterproof Test improves the test process of swing pipe devices corresponding to levels 3-4 (6.4). These revisions make the standard more consistent with IEC 60529.

- Necessity of pretreatment: The surface needs to be cleaned and placed in a standard environment for 8 hours before the test (Article 6.1)
- Dynamic component test: For moving parts (such as radar antenna), it is necessary to clearly select the M (moving)/S (stationary) supplementary letter
- Grading mark: The composite protection level should be marked according to the lowest level (Chapter 7)
- Equipment selection: The deck equipment of fishing vessels is recommended to be at least IP56, and the equipment in the cabin can be IP44
