Scope

This standard gives the definition of flaws and defects existing in oil pipes, but does not involve severity criteria. The term "imperfections" as used here refers to metallurgical and other characteristics of a steel pipe product that may or may not adversely affect the use of the product. The definition of adverse effects is outside the scope of this standard. The definition of defects is given in the relevant pipe standard. This standard also lists English equivalent terms in Appendix A (the suggested appendix).
