Scope
1.1 This standard specifies the routine testing and guarantee conditions of diesel engines. 1.2 This standard is not part of the UIC 623-1 diesel engine certification methods and certification conditions, and the implementation of this standard does not require UIC approval. 1.3 This standard applies to diesel engines used in power plants, but does not include special locomotives (such as locomotives used in mines and refineries) and diesel engines with effective power less than 100kW. 1.4 Any member company that wishes to strictly guarantee the operating reliability of a particular type of diesel engine for power plants can implement this standard. 1.5 All units of measurement used in this standard must comply with the (SI) system of units specified in UIC 800-00.
