This standard specifies the test method for the braking performance constancy of the regenerative braking system of electric vehicles under three typical working conditions:

Where σ is the standard deviation of 5 tests, ā is the average of 3 groups of tests. This coefficient directly reflects the stability of braking performance.

Background of standard evolution

This standard was first formulated in 2018, mainly to solve the problem of coordinated control of the regenerative braking system unique to electric vehicles and traditional friction brakes. Compared with traditional standards such as GB 21670, the following are newly added:

  • Requirements for monitoring the status of the electric brake system
  • Efficiency test under different SOC states
  • Energy recovery and braking stability collaborative evaluation

Implementation suggestions

Passenger car test case: When the maximum speed of a certain model is 120km/h, the three initial speeds of 96km/h, 80km/h and 32km/h should be selected, and 5 tests should be carried out at three pedal openings of 30%/50%/80%, and the braking distance and deceleration changes should be recorded.

Commercial vehicle precautions: Special attention should be paid to the special requirements for pneumatic brakes in GB 12676. It is recommended to complete the specified number of running-in brakes before testing.
