WS/T 578的本部分规定了健康人群常量元素钙、磷、钾、钠、镁、氯的膳食参考摄入量。
本部分适用于中国居民健康人群或个体的膳食常量元素摄入状况评价和指导。

Introduction

Interpretation of the core content of the standard

This standard systematically establishes a complete reference intake system for major elements (calcium, phosphorus, potassium, sodium, magnesium, and chlorine) in my country for the first time, using the four-level indicator system of DRIs:

Indicator type English abbreviation Definition points Application scenarios
Average requirement EAR The average value that meets 50% of individual requirements Group dietary evaluation
Recommended intake RNI Meet 97-98% of individual requirements Individual dietary guidance
Adequate intake AI Observation value in healthy population Replace RNI when data is insufficient
Upper tolerable level UL Upper limit of safe intake Prevention of overdose risk

Intake standards of key elements

Key data of calcium

The AI value for infancy (0-0.5 years) is 200mg/d, the RNI for adolescence (11-14 years) reaches 1200mg/d, and pregnant women in the middle and late stages need to maintain 1000mg/d. The UL value is uniformly set at 2000mg/day, suggesting that calcium supplementation should be cautious of the risk of kidney stones.

Sodium-Potassium Balance Requirements

The adult sodium AI is 1500mg/day (≈3.75g of table salt), and the potassium AI is 2000mg/day. The sodium-potassium ratio should be controlled above 1:1.3, which provides guidance for the prevention and treatment of hypertension.

Adjustment Recommendations for Special Populations

Pregnant Women: During the second and third trimesters, the calcium EAR is increased to 810mg/day, and the magnesium RNI is 370mg/day. Particular attention should be paid to supplementing with dairy products and dark green vegetables.

Elderly People: For those over 80 years old, the magnesium intake is lowered to 670mg/day, while the calcium intake remains at 1000mg/day, reflecting a balance between bone health and metabolic function.

Key points for implementing the standard

  1. Medical institutions should give priority to using RNI values for nutritional assessment
  2. Food nutrition labels are recommended to indicate both NRV% and UL%
  3. Community education should emphasize the importance of sodium and potassium synergistic supplementation
  4. Clinical nutritional support should refer to the pregnancy stage classification standards
