Introduction
Analysis of the core content of the standard
The new standard integrates the technical contents of GBZ/T 144-2002 and GBZ/T 202-2007. The main updates are as follows:
| Technical Dimensions | Old Standards | WS/T 830-2024 |
|---|---|---|
| Energy Range | Photons 1.00×10-2~10MeV Neutrons 1.00×10-9~1.80×109MeV | Photon 1.00×10-3~1.00×103MeV Neutron 1.00×10-9~1.00×109MeV |
| New particle types | Photon/neutron only | Added 7 types including electron/proton/π meson/muon/helium ion |
| Phantom accuracy | Based on ICRP Report 74 | Using ICRP 110 voxel model (1.95 million voxels for males/3.89 million voxels for females) |
Application of key conversion factors
1. Effective dose conversion
Appendix B provides the conversion factors of 9 types of particles from fluence to effective dose, taking 10MeV photon AP irradiation as an example:
- Male reference phantom: 4.49 pSv·cm2
- Female reference phantom: 5.12 pSv·cm2 (influenced by breast tissue weight)
2. Organ dose conversion
Appendix C/D lists the conversion factors of 28 organs in detail, including:
Case: The dose conversion factor of 120kVp X-ray (equivalent energy ~70keV) on female breast in medical CT scan is 0.194 pGy·cm2 (AP irradiation)
Recommendations for the implementation of the standard
- Calibration of monitoring equipment: The conversion coefficients between photon kerma and practical quantity need to be updated according to Appendix G
- Radiotherapy planning: Proton/heavy ion therapy should use the conversion coefficients in Table B.5/B.10
- Nuclear facility protection: For neutron monitoring, it is recommended to use the ambient dose equivalent conversion coefficients in Appendix H
Technology evolution analysis
This standard reflects the latest research results of ICRP Report No. 103/110:
- The voxel model is used to replace the traditional mathematical phantom, and the spatial resolution is improved by 20 times
- The conversion coefficients for non-parallel beam irradiation conditions (ROT/ISO geometry) are introduced
- Added special conversion factors for eye lens (Appendix E) and local skin (Appendix F)
