Introduction
Standard Revision Background and Technology Evolution
YS/T 451-2012 is a replacement version of YS/T 451-2002, and is revised mainly with reference to the international standard EN 13349:2002. This revision focuses on improving the performance requirements of plastic-coated copper tubes in terms of aging resistance and dimensional accuracy, and adds key technical indicators such as plastic coating elongation ≥ 50% and aging rate Ai/Ac ≥ 0.5.

Product classification and typical applications
1. Plastic-coated copper cold water pipe
Adopts a flat ring structure (thickness 1.0-2.0mm), suitable for building water supply systems. A typical case is a pure water pipeline project in a hospital in Beijing, which has been used continuously for 5 years without cracking of the coating.
2. Plastic-coated copper hot water pipe
Adopts a toothed ring structure (thickness 1.6-3.0mm), and the actual temperature resistance of the hot water system of a hotel in Shanghai is 95℃, and the Vicat softening temperature is ≥80℃.
Key points of key testing methods
Elongation test: Use 5B specimen according to GB/T 1040.2, 50mm/min tensile speed, and take the average of 5 groups of data.
Aging test: Test the conditional elongation after 168 hours of treatment in a 110℃ liquid environment, and calculate the aging retention rate.
Implementation suggestions
- For gas pipelines, flame-retardant products with an oxygen index of ≥30 should be used preferentially
- For hot water systems, it is recommended to use a toothed ring structure to enhance creep resistance
- During acceptance, the uniformity of the plastic coating thickness should be checked (allowable deviation ±0.1-0.5mm)
