Scope

All requirements and all tests apply only to sterile products. This standard specifies the basic requirements for antistatic and non-antistatic breathing tubes and breathing tubes of cutable length. These pipelines are used with anesthesia machines, ventilators, humidifiers, and nebulizers. This standard also applies to breathing tubes that are supplied after assembly with the Y-shaped parts or assembled in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions before being supplied as separate parts. Breathing tubing is available with a fitted end of an adapter with a tapered connector, or a smooth end (straight or tapered). Special-purpose breathing tubes, such as those for ventilators with special compliance requirements, are not within the scope of this standard.
