Scope
This standard stipulates the eight-digit code derived from GB 1988 and is compatible with it. The eight-digit code specified in this standard has some options and guidance is given on how to use these options to specify a specific version. This character set is mainly used for information exchange between the data processing system and related equipment in the eight-bit code system, as well as within the data communication system, and takes into account the graphic characters and control functions required in data processing.
