本标准规定了过氧乙酸溶液的要求，试验方法，检验规则，标志、包装、储存、运输和安全。本标准适用于由过氧化氢和乙酸反应生成的过氧乙酸溶液，也适用于过氧化氢和乙酸分别包装混合配制后生成的过氧乙酸溶液的生产、检验和销售。本标准I型产品、II型产品主要用作消毒剂的原料，II型产品也用作漂白剂和有机合成，III型产品主要用作有机合成。本标准代替ＧＢ１９１０４―２００３《过氧乙酸溶液》和ＧＢ１９１０８―２００３《过氧乙酸溶液　过氧乙酸含量的测定》。
本标准与ＧＢ１９１０４―２００３相比主要变化如下：
―――将要求中的性状单列为一章（２００３年版的３．１，本版的第３章）；
―――将ＧＢ１９１０８―２００３中适用的内容编入过氧乙酸含量的测定试验方法中（２００３年版的４．２，本版的５．２）；
―――完善运输的规定（２００３年版的６．３，本版的７．３）；
―――将安全一章由强制性条款修改为推荐性条款（２００３年版的第７章，本版的第８章）。
