Scope
This standard specifies a method for determining whether paints, varnishes, paint bases, solvents, petroleum and their related products are capable of volatilization when maintained at a selected equilibrium temperature and under test conditions. Sufficient flammable vapors are capable of causing ignition when operated in the standard manner by application of an external ignition source. This standard does not apply to water-based coatings, but such products can be tested using GB/T 21790 "Flash and non-flash determination" (reference [2]). The applicable temperature range of this standard is -30℃~110℃, and the temperature range has been listed in Table 1 according to the different instruments used. When this method is used to test mixtures containing halogenated short solvents, abnormal results may be given, and the results should be interpreted with caution.
