Scope

This part of GB/T 24955 specifies the structure, performance and test of the gyrocompass used for heading information transmission equipment in compliance with the requirements of Chapter V of the 1974 International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS Convention) as amended. Heading Transmitting Device (THD) is an electronic device that provides ship's true heading information, except that it shall comply with IEC 60945 and IMO A. In addition to the general requirements stipulated in resolution 694(17) and the relevant standards of the sensor components used, the THD shall meet the following minimum requirements. If the IMO performance standard applicable to the sensor component does not specify the geographical area of operation, the operating range of the THD is: a) a maximum slewing speed of 200/s; b) at least 700N ~ 70< Superscript 0>S, complying with the requirements of Chapter V of the SOLAS Convention. The THD used to send heading information shall comply with the provisions of this part. However, for ships with a speed of 30 kn ~ 70 kn, IMO A. provisions of resolution 821(19). In addition, the THD is to comply with the dynamic requirements of the device for providing heading information required by Chapter 13 of the International Code of Safety for High Speed Craft (HSC Code).
