Scope

This standard specifies the terms and definitions for remanufacturing of rack and pinion, recirculating ball mechanical and hydraulic power steering gear, dismantling, classification and cleaning, maintenance and repair, assembly requirements, performance requirements and test methods, inspection rules, and marking with packaging etc. This standard applies to the remanufacturing of rack and pinion, recirculating ball machinery and hydraulic power steering. This standard does not apply to electro-hydraulic servo steering gear and electronic steering gear. This standard does not apply to steering gears that have experienced fire or collision accidents.
