Scope

This standard specifies the magnetostrictive ultrasonic guided wave testing method for rapid detection of section loss in components. This standard is applicable to the detection of surface and internal defects of components with a temperature of -20°C to 550°C, a diameter of 10mm to 1000mm, a thickness of 0.5mm to 80mm, rods with a diameter of 10mm to 80mm and beams with a diameter of 10mm to 185mm. If agreed by the parties to the contract, it may also be applicable to the inspection of butt welds of the above-mentioned members or other members. This standard does not establish evaluation criteria, and the specific criteria shall be negotiated and determined by the parties to the contract. This standard does not fully give the safety requirements for testing, and all parties using this standard are obliged to establish appropriate safety and protection rules before testing.
