Introduction

1. Background and significance of standard formulation

With the wide application of resin-based composite materials in aerospace, automobile manufacturing, sports equipment and other fields, the demand for non-destructive testing is increasing. Due to the complex acoustic properties of composite materials, traditional standard test blocks are difficult to meet the testing requirements, so it is urgent to formulate a comparison test block specification specifically for resin-based composite parts.

2. Comparative analysis of standard frameworks

Dimensions Standard requirements Industry status
Material properties Applicable to resin-based composite laminates, sandwich structures and other parts Covering the testing needs of aerospace and automotive manufacturing fields
Testing technology Supports ultrasonic pulse reflection, penetration technology and C-scan display Compatible with a variety of non-destructive testing equipment and methods
Reference reflector design In-line embedding method, edge insertion method, external attachment method and special methods in parallel Meet the requirements of different defect types and detection sensitivity

3. Interpretation of the core content of the standard

3.1 Design and production specifications of comparison test blocks

The standard clearly requires that the structure of the comparison test block should represent the test piece, and its curvature radius should be within ±10% of the curvature radius of the important bending part of the test area of the test piece. The thickness difference is determined according to the sensitivity of the detection technology, and the maximum allowable difference is 10% or three layers.

3.2 Porosity comparison test block design

Prosivity level Comparison test block difference (p)
Grade A standard 0 < p ≤ 0.5%
Grade B standard B < p ≤ B + 0.5%

3.3 Reference reflector fabrication method

The standard supports a variety of reference reflector fabrication methods, including embedded method, edge insert method and external attachment method. These methods are suitable for different types of defect simulation, such as delamination, debonding and inclusion.

4. Implementation Suggestions

4.1 Comparison test block preparation and inspection steps

  1. Select the appropriate comparison test block type (laminate, sandwich structure, etc.) according to the test requirements.
  2. Design the geometric dimensions of the comparison test block and the layout of the reference reflector according to the standard requirements.
  3. Use the embedded method, edge insert method or external sticking method to make the reference reflector, and ensure that its dimensional tolerance is within ±10%.
  4. Use ultrasonic testing equipment to verify the effectiveness of the comparison test block, and control the deviation between the display area of the reference echo and the design area to be within 25%.
