Scope
This standard specifies the mechanical properties of bolts, screws and studs made of austenitic, martensitic and ferritic corrosion-resistant stainless steels when tested at an ambient temperature of 15 to 25 °C. Performance may vary at higher or lower temperatures. Bolts, screws and studs to which this standard applies: Nominal thread diameter d<=39mm; Ordinary thread in accordance with GB/T 192; Combination of diameter and pitch in accordance with GB/T 193; Basic dimensions in accordance with GB/T 196 ; Comply with the tolerance specified in GB/T 197; Any shape. This standard does not apply to fasteners that have special performance requirements, such as weldability. This standard does not specify corrosion resistance and oxidation resistance in special environments, but some information on materials used in special environments is given in Appendix E (reminder appendix). See ISO 8044 for definitions of corrosion and corrosion resistance. The purpose of this standard is to classify the performance of corrosion-resistant stainless steel fasteners. Some materials can be used in air at a temperature of -200°C, while some materials can be used in air at a temperature of +800°C. For information on the effect of temperature on mechanical properties, see Appendix F (reminder). Corrosion resistance, oxidation resistance and mechanical properties for use at high temperatures or below zero must be agreed between the user and the manufacturer for each special occasion. Appendix G (reminder appendix) gives information on the effect of carbon content on intergranular corrosion at high temperatures. All austenitic stainless steel fasteners are generally nonmagnetic in the annealed condition; some magnetism may be evident after cold working, see Appendix H (reminder).
