Scope

This part of GB/T 31840 specifies the rated voltage for fixed installations used in distribution networks or industrial installations from 6 kV (Um = 7.2 kV) to 30 kV (Um = 36 kV ) Material, structure, size and test requirements of aluminum alloy core extruded insulated power cables. This section applies to power cables with aluminum alloy core extruded insulation for rated voltages from 6 kV (Um = 7.2 kV) to 30 kV (Um = 36 kV). When deciding on the cable application, it is recommended to consider the possible risk of radial water ingress. This standard covers so-called longitudinal water-blocking structural cables and their tests. This section does not cover cables for special installation and operating conditions, such as cables for overhead cables, the mining industry, nuclear power plants (in and near containment), and cables for underwater or on ships.
