Scope

This standard specifies the method for the determination of soil microbial respiration in aerobic and unsaturated soils. This method is suitable for the measurement of oxygen consumption or carbon dioxide release under the condition of adding substrate (substrate-induced respiration) or without adding substrate (basic respiration). Determination. This standard is applicable to the determination of soil respiration for the following purposes: - Determining soil microbial activity (see reference [3]); - Determining the impact of additives (nutrients, pollutants, soil amendments, etc.) ; - determination of soil microbial biomass (see reference [4]); - determination of metabolic entropy (qCO₂).
