Introduction
GB/T 32886-2016 Standard Overview
Guidelines for the Selection of Recyclable Materials for Electronic and Electrical Products (GB/T 32886-2016) is a guiding standard for the selection of materials for electronic and electrical products and their packaging, aiming to promote resource recycling and environmental protection. The standard clarifies the basic principles, processes and specific requirements for material selection, and is applicable to the design, manufacturing and recycling links.
Comparative Analysis of Standard Frameworks
| Dimensions | Contents | Requirements | Scope of Application |
|---|---|---|---|
| Terms and Definitions | Key concepts such as electronic and electrical products and recyclable materials are clarified. | Ensures unified industry terminology for easy understanding and implementation. | Entire industry |
| Selection process | Includes five steps: demand analysis, material screening, performance evaluation, optimization and adjustment, and verification and confirmation. | Follow the principles of usability, processability, environmental and economic performance. | Product development stage |
| Selection requirements | Emphasis on the singleness, renewability and low toxicity of materials. | Ensure that the materials have good recycling value during the product life cycle. | Manufacturing and recycling links |
Implementation recommendations and best practices
1. Simplify the types of materials
Try to reduce the types of materials used in the product, especially plastic materials. Give priority to single homogeneous materials and avoid the use of mixed materials to improve recycling efficiency. For example, screws and fasteners in electronic products should be made of the same metal material as much as possible.
2. Give priority to recycled materials
Use recycled materials as much as possible while meeting product performance. According to Appendix B, the recycling rate and recovery rate of common materials are as follows:
Table 1: Recycling rate and recovery rate of some materials| Material | Recycling rate (%) | Recycling rate (%) |
|---|---|---|
| Polypropylene (PP) | 90 | 90 |
| Polycarbonate (PC) | 90 | 90 |
| Acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) | 90 | 90 |
3. Use biodegradable materials
For packaging and easily degradable parts, it is recommended to use biodegradable plastics (such as polylactic acid PLA). According to Appendix C of the standard, biodegradable plastics must meet the following requirements:
- Volatile solid content ≥ 50%
- Heavy metal and fluoride content below the limit
- Biodegradation rate within 6 months under aerobic conditions ≥ 90%
4. Mark material information
Mark the material composition on the product or packaging to facilitate recycling. For example, use a mark that complies with GB/T 16288 on plastic products.
