Introduction

GB/T32991-2016 Standard Overview

This standard specifies the terms and definitions, principles, instruments, specimens, test procedures, result calculation and test report of the density uniformity test method for mineral wool thermal insulation materials. It is applicable to mineral wool thermal insulation products such as glass wool, rock wool, slag wool, aluminum silicate wool, etc.

Background of Standard Formulation

With the increasing demand for building energy conservation, the performance requirements of thermal insulation materials are becoming increasingly stringent. Density uniformity is an important indicator for measuring the quality of mineral wool thermal insulation materials, which directly affects their thermal insulation effect and service life. GB/T32991-2016 is based on basic standards such as GB/T5480 and is formulated in combination with the actual needs of the industry, aiming to provide a scientific basis for the quality inspection of related materials.

Technical Evolution Analysis

The density uniformity test method of mineral wool thermal insulation materials has undergone a technical upgrade from empirical judgment to quantitative analysis. Traditional methods rely on manual visual inspection and empirical judgment, which are highly subjective and result inaccurate. GB/T32991-2016 has achieved standardization and operability of the detection process by introducing quantitative indicators (maximum surface density deviation value and deviation rate).

Comparison of standard frameworks

Standard dimensions GB/T32991-2016 Old version of the standard Comparison with international standards
Definition of terms Definition of maximum surface density deviation value, deviation rate and density uniformity Not systematized Basically consistent with relevant ISO standards
Test method Use the three-section cutting method to quantify the deviation value and deviation rate Rely on manual visual inspection In line with internationally accepted methods
Scope of application Applicable to a variety of mineral wool products Applicable only to some materials Meet the universal requirements of ISO standards

Instruments and operating specifications

According to GB/T32991-2016, the main instruments required for the test include: steel ruler (division value not less than 1mm) and balance (division value not less than 1g). The sample is cut into three equal parts vertically to ensure the accuracy of the measurement results.

Implementation Suggestions

Case Analysis: Practice of a Mineral Wool Products Factory

In order to verify the actual application effect of the standard, a mineral wool products factory tested a batch of rock wool boards in accordance with the requirements of GB/T32991-2016. Nine specimens were obtained by the three-section cutting method, and the surface density of the whole specimen and each specimen was calculated. The results showed that the maximum surface density deviation value was 0.5 kg/m² and the deviation rate was 0.8%, which met the standard requirements.

It is recommended that enterprises conduct quality inspections in accordance with this standard regularly during the production process to ensure the uniformity and consistency of the products. At the same time, it is recommended that relevant departments strengthen the promotion of standards and improve the overall technical level of the industry.
