Introduction
Eight-spotted wedge beetle quarantine identification method: standard interpretation and implementation suggestions
1. Background and significance of standard formulation
GB/T 33034-2016 "Eight-spotted wedge beetle quarantine identification method" is the first national standard formulated by my country for the eight-spotted wedge beetle (Saperda octopunctata Scopoli), a quarantine pest. The standard was officially implemented on May 1, 2017, filling the gap in my country's quarantine identification of this species.
2. Comparison of standard frameworks
| Dimensions | SN/T 2656 (reference standard) | GB/T 33034-2016 |
|---|---|---|
| Scope of application | Applicable to the quarantine and identification of the genus Sphenotype | Specifically for Sphenotype octadecanalis, more specific and accurate |
| Principle of the method | Based on morphological characteristics | Combined with observation of damage symptoms and laboratory identification |
| Identification steps | Divided into two parts: on-site inspection and laboratory identification | Added sample preservation methods and specimen preparation requirements |
3. Implementation suggestions
a) On-site inspection:Focus on checking whether the wood or wooden packaging has live insects, invasion holes, debris and feces, and perform autopsy when necessary.
b) Sample processing:Intercepted samples should be properly stored to avoid damage to the insect body. Adult insects can be placed in finger-shaped tubes, and larvae can be bagged together with the host and sent to the laboratory for quarantine in time.
c) Laboratory identification:Microscopic examination is a key step, and accurate judgment must be made in combination with morphological characteristics and retrieval tables. It is recommended to equip professional instruments and equipment such as biological microscopes and stereo microscopes.
