Introduction

Interpretation of General Technical Conditions for Steel Free Forgings on Hammer

1. Background and Purpose of Standard Formulation

GB/T33212-2016 General Technical Conditions for Steel Free Forgings on Hammer is one of China's national standards, which mainly stipulates the technical requirements, test methods and acceptance rules for forgings in the free forging process on hammer. This standard is applicable to general-purpose forgings of carbon steel and alloy structural steel forged on hammer free forging, including die forgings.

The formulation of the standard aims to unify industry technical specifications, ensure product quality, and provide clear references for quality and technical requirements for both supply and demand parties.

2. Comparison of standard frameworks

Standard dimensions Ordering conditions Technical requirements Test methods
Ordering conditions The purchaser shall provide the original data required for the production of forgings, including quantity, materials, drawings, inspection items, etc. - The steel ingots or billets used for forging shall meet the requirements of killed steel, indicate the furnace number and be accompanied by a certificate of conformity.
- Ingots, billets and rolled products shall be re-tested and confirmed to be qualified before use.
Chemical composition analysis shall be carried out in accordance with GB/T222, GB/T20066, GB/T223; mechanical properties test shall be carried out in accordance with GB/T228.1, GB/T229, GB/T231.1 and other standards.
Technical requirements - The purchaser shall specify the use conditions and performance requirements of the forgings.
- If alternative materials are required, both parties shall negotiate and confirm in writing.
- Treatment of surface defects of forgings: cracks, folds, etc., which are required to be removed or repaired by welding when the depth exceeds the machining allowance.
- Deformation after heat treatment shall be corrected to ensure that the mechanical properties meet the requirements.
The test levels are divided into levels Ⅰ to Ⅴ, and the specific items and quantities are shown in Table 1. Including tests such as chemical composition, hardness, tensile strength, and impact.

3. Implementation suggestions and precautions

Case analysis: A forging company purchased carbon steel billets for the production of free forgings on hammers. According to the standard requirements, the purchaser should provide detailed ordering information and specify the inspection items.

  • Material selection: Killed steel ingots are preferred to ensure that the chemical composition meets the allowable deviation range of GB/T222.
  • Process control: Pay attention to eliminating surface defects during forging to ensure that the mechanical properties meet the standards after heat treatment.
  • Inspection link: Samples are taken for tensile and impact tests according to the requirements of Level II tests to confirm whether they meet the design requirements.
