Explanation of professional terms and practical applications
Innepainting: A decorative technique in which a special brush is used to reversely paint or write inside a transparent tobacco bottle, which is commonly seen in glass and jade tobacco bottles during the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty.
For example, the Palace Museum in Beijing has a snuff bottle with inner painting of landscapes and figures from the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty. Its exquisite craftsmanship reflects the peak level of court art at that time.
