Background and Significance of Standard Formulation

With the transformation of global energy structure and the improvement of environmental protection requirements, CO2-to-methanol technology, as a green chemical process, has important strategic significance. The formulation of GB/T 34236-2017 aims to standardize the design, construction and operation of CO2-to-methanol production equipment and promote the industrial application of this technology.

This standard is under the jurisdiction of the National Gas Standardization Technical Committee, combining the practical experience and technical development needs of the industry to ensure its scientificity and practicality.

The typical process flow of carbon dioxide to methanol includes:

  • Gas compression system: raw gas compressor and circulating compressor.
  • Synthesis reaction system: preheater, synthesis tower, water cooler, separator, water washing tower.
  • Distillation system: deetherification tower, pressure distillation tower, atmospheric distillation tower.
