Background and Significance of the Standardization

The national standard GB/T 35870—2018 "Corn Germ" was proposed by the State Administration of Grain and is managed by the National Technical Committee for Grain and Oil Standardization. The formulation of this standard aims to standardize the quality requirements of corn germ, ensure the safety of edible vegetable oils, and promote the healthy development of the corn processing industry.

With the rapid development of my country's corn deep processing industry, corn germ, as an important oil resource, plays an increasingly important role in the food industry. However, the lack of unified quality standards in the industry has led to uneven product quality and frequent food safety risks. The introduction of GB/T 35870—2018 fills this gap and provides a scientific basis for the production, inspection and trade of corn germs.

Inspection methods and compliance

Raw material requirements:Raw materials for corn germ production should meet the requirements of GB 1353 or GB/T 22503.

Inspection rules:Follow GB/T 5490 to ensure that the product meets the requirements of Table 1. If one item does not meet the requirements, it will be judged as a product that does not meet the grade.

Case study: Sensory quality of corn germ

In practical applications, sensory quality is one of the important indicators for judging the quality of corn germ. For example, under the GB/T 5492 standard, the color and smell of the product can be quickly evaluated by vision and smell to see if it meets the requirements.
