GB/T 37617—2019 is a standardized document for the test method of Zeta potential on the surface of nanofiltration membranes, filling the gap in the field of nanofiltration membrane characterization technology in China. This standard is based on the streaming potential method, which indirectly reflects the Zeta potential of the membrane surface by measuring the potential difference generated by the flow of electrolyte solution in the capillary channel.

With the rapid development of membrane separation technology, the application scope of nanofiltration membranes has been continuously expanded, especially in the fields of water treatment and material separation. However, the charge characteristics of the membrane surface have an important influence on the performance of the membrane, so accurate testing of Zeta potential has become a key indicator for evaluating membrane quality. As an efficient and accurate method, the streaming potential method is widely used in the characterization of nanofiltration membranes.
