Introduction

National Standard of the People's Republic of China GB/T 37752.5—2024

Safety of Industrial Furnaces and Related Process Equipment Part 5: Continuous Annealing Furnace for Steel Strip

1. Background of Standard Formulation and Analysis of Technology Evolution

Industrial furnaces and related process equipment are thermal equipment that heat materials or workpieces using the heat from fuel combustion or electrical energy conversion. With the rapid development of the steel industry, continuous annealing furnaces for steel strips, as key process equipment, face many safety challenges in the production process, including gas accidents, mechanical accidents, electrical accidents, etc.

The GB/T 37752 "Safety of Industrial Furnaces and Related Process Equipment" series of standards is to standardize the safety requirements of such equipment and ensure its safety during design, manufacturing, installation and use. This part (Part 5) specifically provides detailed regulations on the safety assessment, safety requirements and measures, safety verification and usage information of continuous annealing furnaces for steel strips.

2. Comparison of standard frameworks

Standard dimensions GB/T 37752.1 (General requirements) GB/T 37752.5 (Continuous annealing furnace for steel strip) Comparative analysis
Scope of application General safety requirements for industrial furnaces and related process equipment Safety assessment and measures for continuous annealing furnace for steel strip More specific, for specific equipment types
Core content Covering general safety requirements for combustion systems, protective gas systems, electrical systems, etc. Detailed into specific requirements such as gas and protective gas pipeline safety, furnace gas and furnace pressure safety, and electrical equipment safety More professional and targeted
Technical indicators General safety indicators, such as pressure, temperature, flow, etc. Special process requirements for steel strip continuous annealing furnaces, such as heating rate, cooling rate, protective gas purity, etc. More specific and refined

3. Implementation suggestions

Implementation steps:

  1. Safety assessment stage
    • The design unit conducts a safety assessment, covering the user unit, process technology, and accident risks.
    • Purposely formulate targeted safety measures based on the hazard categories and hazard situations listed in Table 1.
  2. Safety requirements and measures
    • Strictly follow the requirements of Sections 5.1 to 5.9 for overall design, ergonomic design, safety protection design, etc.
    • Focus on the safety of fuel gas and protective gas systems, and ensure the correct installation and use of pressure regulators, manual isolation valves and automatic shut-off valves.
  3. Safety measures verification
    • Before the equipment is put into use, conduct a comprehensive safety verification, including electrical safety verification and noise verification.
    • Ensure that all safety devices (such as emergency stop buttons, flame detectors) are in normal working condition.
  4. Use and maintenance
    • Strictly follow the requirements of Sections 7.1 to 7.5 to provide use information, including warning devices, markings and personnel training.
    • Regularly check the safety layout diagram (see Appendix A) to ensure the effectiveness of escape routes and safety facilities.
