Introduction

Standard Overview and Technical Background

GB/T37805-2019 is my country's first mandatory national standard for bamboo-wrapped composite pipes, proposed by the State Forestry and Grassland Administration and managed by the National Bamboo and Rattan Standardization Technical Committee. The standard was issued on August 30, 2019 and officially implemented on March 1, 2020, marking the standardized application of bamboo-based composite materials in the field of pipeline engineering.

Material and structural requirements

Bamboo wrapped composite pipe adopts a three-layer structure design:

  1. Inner lining layer: Resin insoluble content ≥92%
  2. Structural layer: Bamboo tensile strength ≥60MPa
  3. Outer protective layer: Surface water absorption ≤3%

Typical case: DN500 pipe under 0.6MPa pressure, the minimum circumferential tensile strength reaches 600kN/m (see Table 9)


Technical innovations

  • The first bamboo circumferential/axial winding process (Figure 1)
  • Developed a special socket structure (Table 7)
  • Established a dual-level test method for flexibility (Table 11)
  • Introduced a blank test method to accurately determine the resin content (Appendix A)

Engineering application suggestions

Special attention should be paid during implementation:

  1. Pipes should not be stacked in more than 2 layers (Table 12)
  2. Dual-point flexible lifting is used during transportation
  3. Long-term deflection after installation ≤3%
  4. The connection length of the reducer must meet the requirements of Table D.5
