Interpretation of the core content of the standard

This standard uses an atomic fluorescence spectrometer to determine the total arsenic content in the range of 0.1-50 μg/L in reclaimed water, and achieves trace detection through the principle of acid digestion-hydride generation. Key technical features include:

Key technical points

1. Pretreatment process

The sample needs to undergo three steps of hydrochloric acid acidification and preservationnitric acid digestionthiourea-ascorbic acid reduction to ensure that pentavalent arsenic is converted into a detectable trivalent arsenic form.

2. Instrument operation specifications

Note when using arsenic hollow cathode lamp:

  • Lamp current optimization: usually 30-60 mA
  • Carrier gas flow rate: 400-600 mL/min
  • Atomizer height: 8-10 mm

Each batch of samples should contain:

  • Blank sample (hydrochloric acid solution)
  • Quality control sample (4 μg/L standard solution)
  • Spike recovery sample (spike amount 10 μg/L)

2. Industry application cases

A reclaimed water plant in an industrial park used this standard to monitor the arsenic content in the effluent and found that when the raw water contained 2.3 μg/L arsenic, it was reduced to 0.15 μg/L after reverse osmosis treatment, verifying the effectiveness of the process.
