《GB/T 398-1993棉本色纱线》由TC209（全国纺织品标准化技术委员会）归口，主管部门为中国纺织工业联合会。
本标准规定了棉本色纱线（以下简称“棉纱线”）的产品品种规格、技术要求、所采用的试验方法、检验规则、标志、包装。本标准适用于鉴定环锭机制棉纱线的品质，不适用于鉴定特种用途棉纱线的品质。
Scope
This standard specifies the product specification, technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules, marks and packaging of natural cotton yarn (hereinafter referred to as "cotton yarn"). This standard is applicable to the identification of the quality of ring-spun machine-made cotton yarn, not applicable to the identification of the quality of cotton yarn for special purposes.
