Introduction

National Standard of the People's Republic of China GB/T 44683-2024 In-depth Interpretation of Screw Pump Terminology

1. Standard Overview

This standard defines the commonly used terminology and related physical quantities and unit codes for screw pumps, and is suitable for the understanding and communication of screw pump device designers, manufacturers, operators and factory manufacturers.

Standard Framework Core Content Scope of Application
Foreword Information of the Standard Drafting Unit and Main Drafters Structure and Drafting Rules of the Guidance Document
Scope Application Fields and Basic Definitions All Relevant Practitioners
Term Classification Basic Terms, Structural Classification, Performance Parameters Design, Manufacturing and Application

2. Screw Pump Classification and Definition

Case Analysis: The main difference between a single screw pump and other types of screw pumps lies in its structure and working principle. A single screw pump (single screw pump) consists of a screw and a bushing to form a spiral space, and relies on eccentric threads to achieve fluid transportation. It is often used to transport high-viscosity media.

According to GB/T 44683-2024 standard, screw pumps are mainly divided into the following categories:

  • single screw pump
  • twin screw pump
  • three screw pump
  • five screw pump

3. Screw pump design and performance parameters

The following are the core definitions and applications of screw pump design and performance in the standard:

Terms Definition Application scenarios
Displacement The volume of fluid discharged from the inlet to the outlet per rotor revolution. The basic parameter for pump flow calculation.
Slip flow The flow lost due to internal gap leakage. An important indicator for evaluating pump efficiency.
Volumetric efficiency The percentage of the measured flow to the theoretical flow. An important indicator for measuring the rationality of pump design.

4. Operation and testing of screw pumps

Case analysis: In actual operation, type test (typical test) is an important part of evaluating pump performance. By measuring parameters such as flow, pressure, speed and shaft power, the stability and reliability of the pump under rated conditions are ensured.

The standard clearly stipulates the operation and test requirements of screw pumps, including:

  • Automatic operation (automatic operation): The operation mode controlled by predetermined rules without human intervention.
  • Manual operation (manual operation): The mode of operating the equipment directly or indirectly by human operation.
  • Field operation: Manual control performed next to mechanical equipment.

5. Screw pump parts and device frame

Case study: Under complex working conditions, the application of skid mounted system can significantly improve the reliability and installation efficiency of the pump system. The system integrates key components such as pumps, motors, filters, and joint bases, making it easy to install and move as a whole.

The standard specifies the parts and functions of screw pumps in detail:

  • Casing: The general term for the outer shell that contains and transports fluids.
  • Liner: The key component that forms a spiral space chamber with the screw.

6. Implementation Suggestions

To ensure the effective implementation of the standard, it is recommended that:

  1. Manufacturers should strictly follow the standard to define terms and parameters.
  2. Designers need to have a deep understanding of the classification and performance indicators of screw pumps.
  3. In actual applications, refer to the standard framework comparison table (see above) to select the appropriate pump type.
