Introduction

1. Standard Overview

GB/T 45182-2025 "Test Method for Gasket Parameters for Pipe Flanges Based on Leakage Rate" specifies the key parameter test methods for non-metallic flat gaskets (except rubber gaskets), semi-metallic gaskets and metal gaskets under different test conditions, including maximum allowable stress, unloading elastic modulus, etc. This standard is applicable to gaskets of various shapes and sizes, and provides a scientific basis for ensuring the sealing performance of flange connections.

2. Background of Standard Formulation

With the increasing requirements for the sealing performance of flange connections in the industrial field, the reliability of gaskets in complex environments such as high temperature and high pressure has become a key issue. Based on the leakage rate test method, the GB/T 45182-2025 standard combines the characteristics of various gasket types, clarifies the specific test steps and parameter measurement requirements, and provides a unified technical specification for the industry.

3. Comparison of standard frameworks

Standard dimensions GB/T 45182—2025 Reference standards (such as ISO, ANSI)
Test scope Non-metallic flat gaskets, semi-metallic gaskets, metallic gaskets Mainly for specific types of gaskets
Test parameters Maximum allowable stress ($Q_{\mathrm{smax}}$), unloading elastic modulus ($E_{\mathrm{G}}$), etc. Some parameters are not clearly quantified
Test conditions Test requirements at room temperature and high temperature Usually only room temperature testing is considered

4. Recommendations for standard implementation

Case study: Gasket test at high temperature

Under high temperature, the creep relaxation factor ($P_{\mathrm{\Phi_{QR}}}$) and axial thermal expansion coefficient ($\alpha_{\mathrm{G}}$) of the gasket have a significant impact on the sealing performance. It is recommended to use a test bench that simulates a long-term high temperature environment (as shown in Appendix F) combined with a leakage rate test module (as shown in Appendix C) to ensure the accuracy and reliability of the test results.

For example, for DN 40/PN 40 gasket specimens, when performing loading and unloading cycle tests at 600°C, special attention should be paid to the changes in the gasket inner hole diameter (as shown in Figure 3). When the inner hole diameter decreases below the specified value, the test should be stopped immediately and the relevant parameters should be recorded.
