Product classification technical indicators

The standard divides industrial sulfuric acid into two categories: concentrated sulfuric acid (H2SO4≥92.5%) and oleum (free SO3≥20%). The key indicators are compared:

  • Iron content of superior products: concentrated sulfuric acid (≤0.005%) is stricter than oleum (≤0.005%)
  • Mercury limit: unified requirements for both types of products (≤0.0005%-0.05%)
  • Newly added elements: Thallium has the strictest limit (≤0.00025%-0.001%)

Innovation in detection methods

Inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry (Chapter 6.9)

Simultaneous determination of Fe, Pb, Cd, Cr and Tl by ICP-OES, characteristic wavelength selection:

  1. Fe: 238.204nm
  2. Pb: 220.353nm
  3. Cd: 228.802nm
  4. Cr: 267.716nm
  5. Tl: 190.801nm

Notes: Glassware must be pretreated with (1+1)HNO3 for more than 12 hours. The linear range of the standard curve is 0.2-10μg/mL.

Production Enterprise Response Strategies

  • Raw Material Control: Strengthen Cd, Cr, Tl screening of raw materials such as pyrite
  • Detection Upgrade: Configure ICP-OES equipment and establish a multi-element simultaneous detection process
  • Process Optimization: Quarterly monitoring of As, Hg, and Pb should be added for smelting flue gas raw materials

Laboratory Operation Points

  • When measuring Hg by atomic fluorescence method, potassium dichromate-nitric acid protective solution should be used
  • The ash content determination needs to control the burning temperature to 800±50℃
  • A special glass perspective tube is used for transparency detection (as shown in standard Figure 1)
