Scope
This standard specifies the scope, terms and definitions, classification, technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules, packaging, marking and quality certificates of smooth or galvanized elevator wire ropes with diameters of 6 mm to 38 mm and different structures. This standard applies to suspension wire ropes for traction drive and hydraulic drive elevators, compensation wire ropes and speed limiter wire ropes for passenger and cargo elevators, and wire ropes for manpower elevators for lifting goods and personnel and moving between guide rails. This standard does not apply to wire ropes for escalators.
