ＧＢ／Ｔ９８５１《印刷技术术语》分为７个部分。本部分为ＧＢ／Ｔ９８５１的第５部分。本部分代替ＧＢ／Ｔ９８５１．６—１９９０《印刷技术术语　第６部分：凹版印刷术语》。ＧＢ／Ｔ９８５１的本部分规定了凹版印刷范围内的专业用语，以保证在生产、教学和学术等活动中正确应用专业概念。
本部分适用于印刷行业及其相关专业编写标准、出版、教学、科研、生产及供国内外技术交流中使用。本部分与ＧＢ／Ｔ９８５１．６—１９９０相比主要修改如下：
———根据技术发展增加了滚筒抛光、套筒式印版、凹版雕刻机、故障等词条。
———删去了部分过时的词条，如：凹印网屏、乳白拷页底片、晒网目、碳素纸敏化、晒阳图、腐蚀故障。删除过于细小的词条，如：刮墨刀行程、刮墨刀角度。
———修改：合并一些词条，如单浴腐蚀和多浴腐蚀并为滚筒腐蚀。
