Scope

This standard specifies the design principles and requirements for the containment pit used as a long-term recirculation cooling water source after a water loss accident in a pressurized water reactor nuclear power plant. This standard is applicable to the design of emergency core cooling pits for second-generation improved pressurized water reactor nuclear power plants and can be used as a reference for other types of nuclear power plants.
