Introduction
Background and significance of standard revision
QX/T 2-2016 replaces the 2000 version of the standard. The main technical changes include: the standard attribute is adjusted from mandatory to recommended; the synchronous design principle is added; the lightning protection level classification method is optimized (see Table 1 for comparison); the SPD configuration requirements are strengthened, etc. The revision reflects the development of lightning protection technology and the need to upgrade radar equipment.
Core protection requirements
1. Lightning protection level classification
| Lightning stroke density correction value Nr(times/km²·year) | Lightning protection level |
|---|---|
| Nr≥8 | First class |
| 3≤Nr<8 | Second class |
| Nr<3 | Third class |
2. Building protection
- Use a common grounding system (grounding resistance ≤4Ω)
- The lightning pole setting must meet the following requirements: arrangement in the main thunderstorm direction, ≥3m from the antenna
- The equipotential connection network in the computer room adopts an M-type structure
Protection measures for key equipment
SPD configuration specifications
| Lightning protection level | Main distribution cabinet SPD | Computer room power distribution SPD |
|---|---|---|
| First class | T1 level, Iimp≥25kA | T2 level, In≥40kA |
| Second class | T1 level, Iimp≥20kA | T2 level, In≥20kA |
| Third class | T1 level, Iimp≥12.5kA | T2 level, In≥20kA |
Special requirements: Fiberglass lightning rods that can withstand extreme climates must be used in mountainous areas; automatic monitoring SPD system is recommended for unmanned stations.
Implementation Suggestions
- New radar stations should adopt simultaneous design of lightning protection and civil engineering
- Prioritize the use of building foundation steel bars as natural grounding
- Total length of SPD connection line ≤0.5m (Kevin connection is used when exceeding the limit)
- Special inspection of lightning protection devices is carried out before and after the thunderstorm season every year
Technology Evolution Analysis
Compared with the 2000 edition, the main progress of the 2016 edition is reflected in:
- The concept of lightning protection zone (LPZ) is introduced, and it is clarified that the computer room should be set up in LPZ2 area
- The cross-sectional area requirements of equipotential bonding conductors are refined (copper strip ≥25mm²)
- Add the normative appendix of data transmission cable spacing (e.g. parallel spacing with 380V cable ≥ 130mm)
