Scope

This standard specifies a method for determining the chemical family composition of lubricating oil base oils by thin layer chromatography. This standard is applicable to the determination of lubricant base oils produced by different processing techniques; to the determination of lubricating oil distillates, refined oils and dewaxed oils at different processing stages; and to the determination of the chemical group composition of rubber filling oils and rubber operating oils. This standard covers certain hazardous materials, operations and equipment, but it is not intended to provide recommendations on all safety issues related thereto. Therefore, users should establish appropriate safety and protective measures and determine an applicable management system before using this standard.
