Typical Gemstone Spectral Characteristics
Diamond: Type Ia has a 415nm absorption peak (N coloration), CVD synthetic diamond shows a 270nm/350nm/373nm triplet (crystal defect).
Ruby: Natural products have a 285nm cutoff edge + 692nm fluorescence peak (Cr), and the fluorescence of diffusion-treated products is significantly weakened.
Control of influencing factors
- Temperature effect: CVD synthetic diamonds require liquid nitrogen refrigeration (-196℃) to enhance characteristic peaks
- Directional difference: Corundum gemstones require multi-angle testing
- Symbiotic effect: Fe element causes the 560nm absorption peak of ruby to redshift
