Scope
The main purpose of this section is to provide some relevant formulas in order to calculate the average particle size or average diameter and various moment values from a given particle size distribution. In this section it is assumed that the particle size distribution is represented by a histogram. If the particle size distribution is expressed in the form of an analytical function, the corresponding numerical processing methods apply. In this section, it is also assumed that the particle size x of a particle of any shape can be represented by its equivalent sphere, eg the diameter of a sphere equal to the volume of the particle being measured.
