Scope

The main purpose of this standard is to provide a mathematical basis for characterizing the grading process. It is not only suitable for particle size analysis, but also can be used to characterize classification processes (such as: air classification, centrifugal classification) or separation processes (such as: cyclone separation or hydrocyclone separation). The characterization of the classification process in Chapter 3 is based on the premise that there is no error in the description of the frequency distribution curve of the raw material and the coarse and fine components and the balance of the overall quality. In Chapter 4, the effect of systematic error on classification efficiency is described. The effect of random errors on the characterization of the grading process is discussed in Appendix A.
